Anne McCaffrey, the award winning author of the Dragonriders of Pern series, has tried for years to get Hollywood to make a movie of her book. Her books, especially the first three, are so much better than Eragon. Only, Anne insisted that Hollywood make a movie true to her books. Not something slightly based on her books. Paolini didn't seem to care that Hollywood took a lot of license with his book. So, in conclusion, Anne McCaffrey is an infinitely better writer and has more integrity concerning her works.
